The comparative study conducted by the Biochemistry Laboratory of the University of Nantes has confirmed the outstanding analytical performance of the EXIAS eI1 Analyzer. The research focused on measuring ionized calcium (Ca2+) and pH in whole blood and directly compared the EXIAS eI1 with the well-established Radiometer ABL800.
Study Overview
Between July and October 2023, 101 whole blood samples were analyzed sequentially using the EXIAS® eI1 system and the ABL800 Radiometer. The study aimed to verify that results obtained using the point-of-care (POC) EXIAS® eI1 system correlate with laboratory-standard measurements. Statistical analysis was performed using XLSTAT®.
Key Findings
The study revealed a near-perfect correlation between the EXIAS® eI1 and ABL800 results:
- Ionized calcium (Ca++): EXIAS® eI1 results averaged 1.16 ± 0.099 mmol/L, compared to 1.18 ± 0.088 mmol/L for ABL800, with no significant difference observed. Correlation coefficient r = 0.96.
- pH: EXIAS® eI1 results averaged 7.388 ± 0.068, identical to ABL800 measurements, with correlation coefficient r = 0.94.
These results demonstrate that the EXIAS® eI1 Analyzer provides highly reliable measurements, both for ionized calcium and pH, closely matching those of a top-tier laboratory instrument.
Implications
The findings highlight the EXIAS® eI1 Analyzer’s precision and reliability, establishing it as a high-quality solution for accurate testing in both laboratory and point-of-care environments. Its performance confirms that healthcare professionals can trust EXIAS® eI1 results when making critical clinical decisions, even outside the traditional laboratory setting.
We are proud to share these achievements, which reflect our ongoing commitment to providing top-tier analytical performance.
